If you’re looking for a unique garden wedding venue in Milwaukee, check out Villa Terrace. This historic-mansion-turned-wedding-venue includes a villa surrounded by Tuscan-style gardens. It’s the perfect place to host an intimate, artistic wedding like L and Z’s.
In this blog post:

Villa Terrace isn’t your typical garden wedding venue. It’s not a botanical garden or arboretum. It has a really elegant aesthetic. Because it originally served as a private estate, it feels like being transported back in time to a luxurious home.

The gardens themselves are full of photo-worthy vignettes while the decorative arts showcased in the Villa are amazing too. You really get the best of both historic home and garden wedding venues here.

The Villa itself was constructed as a private home then converted to a museum for the decorative arts. The Great Hall is a sunny, spacious room with ornate details from floor to ceiling. It’s a great space for hosting a reception.

The Terrazzo della Luna offers an incredible view of Lake Michigan, making it a favorite spot for ceremonies.

Cocktail hour typically takes place in the courtyard where landscaping surrounds a Roman-inspired fountain. Guests feel like they’re transported to the Mediterranean with the arched porch and Tuscan-style roof.

For photos, you can use the Renaissance Garden with its iconic staircase set into the hillside. It’s an ideal spot for portraits with cool compositions, including wedding party photos and family portraits.

Villa Terrace hosts weddings on Fridays and Saturdays. Pricing varies for each. All packages include cocktail hour in the courtyard, dinner on the terrace, and a reception in the Grand Hall.

If you love this garden wedding venue but are on a stricter budget, reach out for off-peak pricing. You can save some money by getting married between November and April.

Villa Terrace is one of my favorite garden wedding venues in Milwaukee. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph multiple weddings there. If you’d like to see more after you finish looking at L and Z’s photos, check out these blog posts:

L and Z wanted an intimate wedding to celebrate their love. They chose Villa Terrace for its beauty, loving the artistic interior and location along Lake Michigan. It had everything they wanted out of a garden wedding venue.

This wedding day felt easygoing and intentional. I loved being a part of it. Every aspect of the day, from their small wedding party and to their understated yet plentiful florals, came together to create a quiet elegance.

One reason L and Z chose to work with me as their wedding photographer was that they wanted to prioritize film in their gallery. Film photography is my specialty, and Villa Terrace translates beautifully on film.

Honestly, any garden wedding venue looks stunning on film, but Villa Terrace’s additional historical and artistic elements make it look like it was designed for film. The colors and textures come through with all the nostalgia you could hope for in creative wedding photos.
