Katie and Cole’s super8 wedding video was the perfect addition to their gallery. As avid film lovers, it was important to them to include multiple film formats to create a timeless collection from their day. Super8 films are a unique way to capture the day, compiling little moments, and creating a story that feels like a behind-the-scenes reel.
Katie has such a sweet and laid back energy. She got ready with friends at an airbnb, her mom helped her get into her stunning gown and a few tears were shed as they hugged each other and took in the moment.
Cole’s reaction to seeing Katie for the first time was priceless. Holding her so close that he left a handprint on her back. This moment can be seen in motion in their super8 wedding video. First looks are my favorite part of the day. Having the space to see each other for the first time without your guests feels so intimate and special. Katie and Cole decided to sneak away during this time to read personalized notes to one another. Another great way to build in meaningful moments shared between the two of you amongst a busy and energetic day.
Katie and Cole opted for a large wedding party. They each had twelve close friends and family stand besides them. I loved their choice of outfits for their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Their wedding was in mid-September and the colorful dresses paired with the orange suits worked beautiful with the overcast early fall day.
It’s clear that these two have style. Katie looked absolutely radiant in this silk gown featuring a sheer long sleeved top. Simple, classy, and timeless. Cole looking dapper in his houndstooth suit, a tastefully bold statement. He chose to pair it with floral loafers — one of my favorite groom looks to date!
A light sprinkle began as Katie’s father walked her down the aisle. Some people panic at the first sight of rain but Katie and Cole embraced the weather and it gave their ceremony a cozy and intimate feeling. Some people become fixated on the weather for their wedding days and I totally get it. You spend a lot of time planning what is supposed to be the best day of your lives and rain feels like the worst that could happen (I blame Alanis Morisette) but I’ll be the first to tell you, it’s not about the weather, it’s about how you handle the weather. It’s okay to have a moment of disappointment but your wedding is happening whether it rains or not and I promise it’s much more enjoyable to embrace the elements and enjoy the day than it is to let it affect your experience. This day is only happening once, let go, and live it to the fullest.
Along with adding a super8 wedding film, Katie and Cole chose to add a roll of 35mm film. These grainy moments are easily some of my favorites captured from their day.
