A wedding at Enlightened Brewing Company walks the line between spacious and cozy. Warm wood furniture brings and huge windows bring life to the concrete floors. The windows let golden sunlight in during afternoon wedding ceremonies. It’s just beautiful.

The current home of Enlightened Brewing is in Bay View, Milwaukee. The industrial building has about 14,000 square feet of space total. The taproom alone is about 3,000 square feet of flexible space. That made it ideal for a brewery and a large wedding venue. 

Bay View is such a cute neighborhood in Milwaukee. Murals and historic buildings line the streets. It’s a great place to welcome out-of-town guests to show off the most creative side of our city. There are so many wonderful places to take wedding portraits around the neighborhood, too.

Enlightened Brewing Company’s taproom can accommodate up to 200 guests during normal business operations. You can throw as big a party as you want. Xay and Aaron had a moderately sized wedding that still felt intimate. It’s all in your approach.

Since Enlightened Brewing is so industrial, the space feels like a blank canvas. You can set the tone with the decor you choose. Of course, you can go as elaborate as you want to. Xay and Aaron kept things simple and classic. Their seasonal florals, vintage dishware, and antique carpets brought a sense of beauty and joy to the wedding venue.

A Light-filled Wedding Ceremony

Xay and Aaron are such a sweet couple. They just bought their house. Xay got ready there. She was very sentimental about starting their wedding day in the home they shared. We even did some backyard portraits before heading to the venue.

The casual atmosphere at Enlightened Brewing Company worked perfectly for Xay and Aaron’s wedding. Xay is actually a bartender personality on Instagram. What better place to get married than a great bar?

Part of this wedding venue’s charm lies in its open feeling. You can flow easily between the indoor and outdoor spaces. In fact, there’s no A/C in the building. When the weather is warm, the venue simply opens the wall of windows to let in the breeze.

Those windows are the reason the venue gets such incredible light. I love how Xay and Aaron set up their ceremony space. Instead of having an arch overhead, they had one on the ground. Gorgeous white and pink flowers wrapped around the platform where they stood for the ceremony. The sunlight caught the colors in the petals beautifully.

Xay and Aaron’s whole wedding felt authentic and emotional. That includes their light-filled ceremony. The person who officiated their wedding owns the bar where Xay works. They shared stories from the whole timeline of Xay and Aaron’s relationship. Lots of people shared laughs and happy tears with the couple.

Throughout Xay and Aaron’s wedding day, I incorporated film in their coverage. I love documenting weddings with film photography and videography.
