On a sunny September day, Anne and Curtis celebrated their marriage with all of their closest family and friends. Their Door County wedding venue, Alpine Resort, highlights all the best things about the region from the sweeping lake views to the relaxed atmosphere. I’m so glad I got to photograph this heartfelt wedding!
Alpine Resort is a stunning Door County wedding venue. The resort started hosting weddings in 2022, and it’s easy to see why. It has everything that makes Door County so wonderful right on the property.
To start, you get to have a lakeside ceremony. Lake Michigan’s endless waters make an epic backdrop for your vow exchange. You don’t need much to make the ceremony space unforgettable. Anne and Curtis chose to have lush floral installations placed along the aisles and on either side of the ceremony spot. The flowers blended the natural beauty of the landscape with the resort’s elegance.
The reception tent is also lovely. Since it’s a permanent structure, Alpine Resort went all out on features like dimmable lights, clear side panels, and wood flooring. That means you don’t have to worry about coordinating a tent, dance floor, or lighting for your event. The Waterfront Tent is so welcoming that it almost feels more like a veranda than a tent.
Here are a few things you should know if you’re considering tying the knot at this Door County wedding venue.
As a resort, this Door County wedding venue has room to stay and lots of activities for you and your guests around your wedding weekend. You can boat and golf. The resort can even arrange sailing charters for a sunset cruise around the lake. This would be such a romantic way to kick off your wedding weekend or unwind the day after your wedding.
Anne and Curtis’s Alpine Resort was elegant and classic from the custom invitation suite to Anne’s wedding day aesthetic. The day started in the cabins at the resort. Anne and Curtis got ready with their wedding parties and got some meaningful moments with their parents.
Alpine Resort’s cabins have sweet porches. Anne and Curtis did their first look on the porch of Anne’s. Even though the cabins were designed before Alpine Resort served as a wedding venue, they’re so sweet that you’d think they were made just for weddings. As a celebration of their Door County wedding venue, Anne and Curtis gave out local honey as their wedding favors.
At the reception, Anne and Curtis especially wanted me to document the speeches and everyone’s reactions. They knew their family and wedding party would come through with intentional, meaningful words. And they were right! I loved hearing all the kind things their loved ones shared and documenting the highlights with candid photos.
Photographing Anne and Curtis’s wedding was such a joy. So many heartfelt moments filled their day. It was the kind of wedding day I love to document – quiet and connected. That atmosphere really comes through in these wedding photos, which I took on a mix of digital and film photography.
I also appreciate any time I get to photograph at a Door County wedding venue! Door County is such a gem. It’s 4.5 hours from Chicago and three hours from Milwaukee. You’re far enough away from the city to get that destination feeling with the lake and all the resorts around it. It’s so much more peaceful and relaxed than any city venue.
Even though Door County is a bit of a drive, it’s familiar to a lot of Chicagoans and Milwaukeeans. Many people either have cottages there or grow up taking family vacations in Door County. That’s why Anne wanted to get married at Alpine Resort. She grew up vacationing at her family’s cottage nearby. She knew it would be a meaningful place to have their wedding.
