There’s something incredibly special about being welcomed into a home during those first tender weeks after a baby arrives. Life feels slower, quieter, and beautifully raw—and capturing it on film only adds to the feeling that these moments are sacred and fleeting.

As a Milwaukee newborn photographer who works with 35mm film, I’ve come to love these in-home sessions the most. There’s no rush. No need for posing or perfection. Just a chance to document life exactly as it is: soft snuggles on the couch, tiny toes, and sweet glances shared between new parents.

Film is so well suited to newborn sessions—it slows everything down and brings a sense of intentionality to the process. It captures not just what things looked like, but what they felt like. These images feel timeless, like little love letters to this season of becoming.
