Picking a Milwaukee wedding venue for a December celebration can be a challenge. You want to find a warm, welcoming space that can stand up to the frigid Midwestern winter. Katie and Jake felt drawn to Anodyne Coffee precisely because the venue is so inviting. The eclectic mix of coffee shop atmosphere and vintage decor suited Katie and Jake’s vision for their connection-centered wedding. Their photos, a mix of digital and film, show what a unique experience they created for their wedding day.
Before their wedding at Anodyne Coffee, Katie and Jake got ready at the Pfister Hotel. The hotel is located in downtown Milwaukee near Anodyne Coffee in the Walker’s Point neighborhood. It was so nice to be able to have Katie and Jake’s first look then explore the hotel and neighborhood taking portraits.
The Pfister Hotel also was ideal given Katie and Jake’s wedding aesthetic. They pulled from a lot of vintage inspiration. The Pfister is full of old-fashioned wallpaper, elegant antique furniture, and sweeping staircases. It was all cohesive with the look they brought to their ceremony and reception at Anodyne.
Katie’s cascading bouquet added another fun element to the photos. The yew branches, ranunculus, and berries trailed along the elegant staircases. The palette went perfectly with the decor in the Pfister Hotel and, later, Anodyne Coffee.
We had so much fun taking wedding photos on film in the Pfister Hotel and around Walker’s Point. At the hotel, Katie and Jake posed in wing-backed chairs for timeless portraits. I love the way it all looks in the warmth of 35mm film.
The Walker’s Point neighborhood is full of breweries and brick buildings. Cool art and architecture create amazing backdrops for portraits with vintage flair. The black and white photo of Jake kissing Katie between the pillars has such a classic feel to it.
When it was about time for the ceremony, we headed over to Anodyne Coffee. Anodyne isn’t just a wedding venue; it’s also a coffee house. Bar service for your wedding includes coffee service and espresso beverages all night. You can keep your guests fueled and ready to dance!
The renovated industrial building is beautiful. It has everything you could want for a complete wedding experience. There’s a stage, which is where Katie and Jake stationed their DJ. Anodyne actually hosts concerts regularly. The stage could accommodate a band. The warm wood interior flips easily between a ceremony and reception space with plenty of room to dance.
Anodyne leans into the warm wood aesthetic with its 40-foot bar. Reception tables are also made of natural wood with interesting shapes and textures. It felt like a nod to Katie and Jake’s love of the outdoors as much as a design choice on the venue’s part.
Rental fees for an Anodyne Coffee wedding range between $2,800 and $3,990. This Milwaukee wedding venue has capacity for up to 200 guests. You can enjoy the warm, intimate atmosphere without having to cut your guest list short.
People really do love weddings at Anodyne for their ambiance. Milwaukee wedding venues with similar cozy, eclectic atmospheres include:
For their Anodyne Coffee wedding, Katie and Jake brought together a gorgeous mix of wintery decor and vintage pieces. Katie sourced some really unique rentals, including vintage lanterns and candleholders.
I absolutely love the way Unordinary Omen Floristry incorporated evergreen branches and dried orange slices on the tables. It felt so festive and artistic. Plus it tied in the florals and greenery from Katie’s bouquet.
Even though Katie and Jake live in Madison, Katie grew up in the Milwaukee area. Their wedding had some sweet personal touches. Jake’s mother, for example, stocked the pickle bar for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour.
