As a Midwest wedding photographer, I’ve documented some truly incredible, intimate, and intentional celebrations. Lia and Bri’s Artifact Events wedding is up there with some of the most memorable. I’m so proud of this gallery of photos that reflect the connection and attention to detail at the heart of their day. Their September wedding featured garden details in a stunning autumn palette. The florals elevated Artifact Events from an industrial wedding venue to an elegant setting for their celebration.
Artifact Events is one of my favorite wedding venues in Chicago. It’s a compound of industrial buildings that were renovated to be a large-scale wedding venue. You don’t get a lot of venues that offer such a seamless indoor/outdoor experience in the city. It’s an ideal setting for anyone looking for an understated canvas to bring their wedding vision to life.
Here’s an overview of the spaces you can use for your Artifact Events wedding:
Before it was a wedding venue, the building that’s now Artifact Events housed a foundry. It’s located in the historic Ravenswood neighborhood. Brownstones and beautiful brick buildings line the streets. Artisans and entrepreneurs have transformed old industrial buildings into studios, shops, and theaters. The Chicago River runs through the neighborhood. It’s a quick drive from many of the city’s best hotels and restaurants.
Because Artifact Events actually has multiple venues, its capacity differs depending on which space you choose. An Artifact Events wedding can include 250 to 300 guests.
The space you choose also influences pricing. You can rent one space or do a full buyout. Full buyouts are ideal because it includes everything you need for lighting, sound, and furniture for a celebration in the first floor, second floor, and courtyard. Here are the prices for a full buyout for an Artifact Events wedding:
Lia and Bri designed their Artifact Events wedding very intentionally. They started the day in a hotel near Wrigley Field. Their room actually overlooked the stadium. While they got ready, a game was going on. It added to the excitement and joy in the atmosphere.
Before driving less than ten minutes to Artifact Events, we took some portraits on a street of historic rowhouses by the ball field. It can be hard to find a spot there when a game’s going on, so we felt very lucky.
Once we got to the wedding venue, I immediately saw how Lia and Bri made their Artifact Events wedding their own. Their florals were absolutely incredible. Anthuriums, roses, and protea in every shade of red and pink transformed the space into an urban garden.
The juxtaposition of garden and industrial was amazing. Their florist included installations around their ceremony space and all over the reception area. The addition of candles created a really welcoming environment for guests to connect over dinner.
Lia and Bri are such a sweet couple! Even though their Artifact Events wedding wasn’t small, the whole day felt very intimate. Their friends and family spent the day showering them with love, and their joy at being together is palpable in these photos.
This reception was nonstop fun, too! Once the dance floor got started, it didn’t stop until Lia and Bri’s exit. About halfway through the dancing, Lia and Bri changed into matching outfits of 80s-style button down shirts, white trousers, and glittery high tops. Their outfits embodied the joy everyone felt.
